THE COMMON BOND

Each credit union is required to operate within a Common Bond which legally defines who may become members of that Credit Union. A Common Bond may represent a particular geographic area, a single employer or a designated trade or profession.

The St Albans District Credit Union was initially set up to provide credit union services to the people of St Albans City and District but recently its Common Bond has been extended to cover anyone who lives or works in the County of Hertfordshire.

Whilst we still operate primarily in the St Albans District, the extension has enabled us to offer a more comprehensive package to organisations whose staff are employed county wide.’

St Albans District Credit Union is a member of the Association of British Credit Unions (ABCUL)

    There are many Credit Unions across the United Kingdom (and worldwide). Our office in the Hatfield Road can advise on how to contact other Credit Unions or you can get information from the ABCUL website.
