The Common Bond legally defines who may become a member; something that members have in common. St Albans District Credit Union is for those who live or work in the local government district of St Albans. The Credit Unions Act 1979 requires the Regulator to ascertain that a Common Bond exists. The existence of a common bond makes credit unions different to building societies.
